To be honest, if I were to make a list of my ten favourite albums over the past few years, few of those would be on it, and those that were on it I think I probably have enjoyed more than some on the list... it's just that those albums really seemed to mean something when I first listened to them I think. Odd? I don't know... Meh!
It depends on my mood tbh. Like if I'm feeling nostalgic or melancholic, I tend to gravitate towards particular classic albums, like you've said, have real meaning to me. I don't even listen to many of my top 10 very often, with the exception of Arcade Fire, Beirut and Neutral Milk Hotel (but that's mainly because of T). It's like those other ones are simply too special for everyday usage.
My ordinary listening habits consist primarily of music released within the past 5 years or so, with a focus on spanking new releases.
Yeah! I always feel, if I want to put something on, that if I get to a classic album, despite maybe wanting to put it on, I shouldn't because it just isn't the right time, I'm not in the right emotional state (and also because I'd probably end up listening to it over and over). And despite popular belief (or rather, whatever C says!) my ordinary listening habits also consist mainly of music from recent times, and I also tend to snatch up new releases pretty quickly (though they're probably not as cool or ground-breaking as the stuff you listen to XD).
Wel yer certainly getting hassled by a troll. Top marks for keeping up, blow for blow. I'd say yer ahead. Thanks for the answers to my CH question. I knew before I asked that number one on your list would be your mates :-)
